It’s mid-July, which means you’ve probably just hit the pinnacle of your sun-kissed summer splendor. The sun is setting after 9pm, the weather is getting warmer (too hot) and you are wondering how to continue your summer romance into the fall. The season flies but summer isn’t over yet, which means you still have time to try the hottest summer fashion trends of 2022.

This season’s trends will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and make a statement. So, while you’re debating between wearing a brighter shade of the sun or adding a body chain to your look (my vote is to do both), it’s important to remember that the best accessory for your outfit is a “I’m sexy and I know ”attitude.

But you don’t have to just take my word for it. I talked to supermodel Chanel Iman about her about her summer fashion tips for feeling and looking your best. Since Chanel Iman has attended countless fashion shows and wore every trend before they hit stores, I fully trust her contribution on trends this summer.

Iman says: “If I’ve learned anything in my career when it comes to fashion, it’s to be bold and confident when showing off your style – and most of all to be yourself. This summer, bold models are a hit!

Just because you’re buying bold pieces doesn’t mean they have to rob a bank. Retailers like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Asos often have a version of each trend for a better price version.

According to Iman, Marshalls has “a wide variety of styles with fun and funky motifs perfect for summer – like this one blouse for only $ 12! I like to pair bold patterns with simple opposites like these denim shorts to make the blouse the captivating element of my look. ”

The good news is that all the major summer fashion trends can easily be played with bright accessories or playing down them by combining them with basic items such as jeans or a classic blazer. She keeps scrolling to pick the trend you want to dive into before summer swims away.

Right now, the name of the fashion game is “the brighter, the better” and the bright pink is almost bright. The hue first became popular when Valentino made it the only color on its runway last season and virtually every celebrity has worn it since! Just when it looked like pink couldn’t get hotter, Barbiecore, the nostalgic toddler and fashionista look, resurfaced. Coincidentally (or not so much), photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling decked out in pink on the set of the upcoming Barbie movie were released simultaneously. I predict the bright colors will last all fall, but summer is definitely the peak time to wear them.

If wearing an all-hot pink outfit is daunting, take some advice from model Chanel Iman and incorporate neon into your accessories. “As my style is more colorful and relaxed, taking a simple dress and pairing it with accessories is always my favorite way to elevate my summer looks,” says Iman.

Fitted dress with high neck O-ring

This fuchsia dress with cut-out details is the perfect way to make a statement for a summer dinner or a night on the town. Also, if you want to play down, you can always wear a neutral colored blazer over it.

Dressing for the summer heat often means ditching layers and elements of clothing that add details to stay cool, which is why I love the sweater trend so much. Mesh adds texture and dimension to any look and can be worn for any occasion. For example, a mesh dress without a slip is the perfect cover-up or a mesh tank top can be paired with layered jewelry and baggy jeans for a casual daytime look. My favorite take on the trend is crisp white fishnet dresses (like the one pictured above). Pair the dress with a contrasting bag and bright shoes to complete the look.

Perforated cotton dress

This cut-out dress from Mango comes with a slip underneath and hits right above the knee. Network coverage should be a bit oversized, so don’t be afraid to increase the size.

Using just a woven bag for days by the sea? Beach please. The beach bag has been resized and is ready to be taken from the city to the countryside, to the pool and vice versa. Designers like Loewe, Balenciaga, and Prada have created durable versions of woven basketball bags that need to be carried like handbags. The material and shape are obviously perfect for summer and are a great way to bring the coastal granny vibe into your everyday life. Whether you go for a colorful iteration or stick to classic neutral tones,

If you’re torn between neutrals and color, this DeMellier mini fabric bag will give you the best of both worlds. It’s small enough to carry like a handbag, but still fits over your shoulder.

Are you attending a formal wedding? Feathers would look great for that. Maybe you have a big birthday party? A feather mini dress is a must. Or, if you just like to dress up for your daily coffee run, you probably already wear sleeves with feather trims to impress the barista. Feathers are undoubtedly the funniest fashion trend to conquer this summer.

Beaded mini dress with feather cuff

ASOS has the best selection of glitter feather occasion dresses and I’m absolutely obsessed with this orange (and just bought it). The down sleeves are oversized in the best way and you won’t be able to move your arm without receiving 100 compliments.

Whether you’ve been in a relationship for years or have time stuck to swipe left or right, a slip dress is the perfect look for a date night and model Chanel Iman agrees. “I love being comfortable and the clothes do just the trick. For the evening appointment I will opt for an essential piece of the summer wardrobe: a little black dress, ”says Iman.

Panties work great as LBD or can be reproduced in vibrant colors or patterns. Not only is a slip dress sexy, it is also very versatile. You can wear them alone, over a t-shirt or with a blazer or cardigan depending on your itinerary for the night.

Calling all fashion maximalists! A body chain will take your look and accessories to the next level. Body chains look great with a bikini, crop top, or layered over baggy jeans in the summer – if you need more information, Hailey Bieber’s entire Instagram page is basically a body chain fan account. While I wish the trend would hang around all year, it’s hard to layer a body chain over a thick wool sweater (though I dare you to try it). This is definitely a trend to try before fall arrives.
